Why Winter Solice? Our thoughts..,
This candle is designed to bring warmth and comfort to the darkest days of the year.
At first light, the juicy brightness of sweet orange lifts the spirit, while cinnamon bark adds a warming, spicy heart that chases away the cold. Clove bud anchors the blend with its rich, resinous depth, a note steeped in tradition and nostalgia.
We called it Winter Solace because it captures the essence of the season, the reassuring glow of spice and citrus on a winter’s night, offering comfort, warmth, and a reminder that light always returns.
You'll find this Essence in the following groups. Here's why..,
-
Seasonal: Winter:
- Cinnamon and clove echo your group’s “comforting spices” and “fireside moments.”
- Sweet orange adds a festive, citrus brightness that matches the Christmas spirit.
-
Reminiscent:
- Cinnamon and clove are nostalgic holiday notes. Think mulled wine, spiced biscuits, and winter gatherings.
- Sweet orange is tied to traditional Christmas pomanders and festive decorations.
-
Invigorating:
- This is a possible crossover. While Winter Solace leans towards the winter season, we think the warming cinnamon bark and orange both have energising, mood-brightening properties. This blend could be placed here as a "seasonal" pick-me-up, balancing spice warmth with citrus clarity.

- All Natural Ingredients
- Sustainably Made
- One Tree Planted With Every Refill

- Important Note. Please read this.
- Our hand made wax essence refills should only be used in our Vessels. They should not be burned like Pillar candles. The natrual vegetable waxes we use have much lower melting points than the petroleum based waes used in pillar candles. Each of our candle refills has been designed, made and tested to work only inside its recommended Vessel(s).
Refill Instructions
- Open the refill packaging and hold by wick. Minimise touching the wax as it may soften and melt on your hands. There should be no cause for concern as the wax is a natural wax and the fragrance oil is essential oil.
FAQs
What type of wax do you use?
What type of wax do you use?
We use a blend of coconut and rapeseed wax. Here are our reasons.
🌱 Sustainability & Eco-credentials
- Renewable sources: Both coconut and rapeseed oils are plant-based, renewable crops.
- Lower environmental impact than soy in some regions; soy often involves deforestation, whereas rapeseed is widely grown in the UK and Europe.
- Biodegradable: No petroleum / parafin / mineral based wax.
- Vegan friendly: Absolutely no animal products. Bees love us.
🔥 Burning Qualities
- Clean burn: Produces little to no soot compared to petroleum based waxes.
- Slower, longer burn time than paraffin or soy blends, so our customers get more hours per candle.
- Even burn: Less tunnelling, better melt pool formation.
👃 Fragrance Performance
- Excellent scent throw (hot and cold): Coconut wax especially is known for holding and releasing fragrance oils well.
- Stable blend: Rapeseed helps balance the softness of coconut wax, giving a reliable consistency.
🇬🇧 Local Benefits
- Rapeseed is a common UK crop, so you're tapping into a local, sustainable supply chain.
- Blending with coconut (yes we know coconut is imported) still gives you the fragrance and performance benefits, but with a UK grown soy component the end product has a lower carbon footprint.
Why do you use essential oils and not fragrance oils?
Why do you use essential oils and not fragrance oils?
We choose to use essential oils rather than synthetic fragrance oils because they’re natural, plant-based, and kinder to both you and the environment.
Each one is carefully extracted from real botanicals, meaning you’re getting a scent that’s authentic and full of character.
Whether it’s calming lavender, uplifting citrus, or refreshing peppermint. Essential oils don’t rely on artificial chemicals or phthalates, so they offer a cleaner, more natural way to enjoy fragrance.
It’s our way of giving you products that feel like genuine, sustainable luxury rather than a synthetic imitation.
I’ve read fragrance oils can be better than essential oils. Is this true?
I’ve read fragrance oils can be better than essential oils. Is this true?
You’re right, fragrance oils do have some advantages. They’re really consistent, there are loads more scents to choose from, and they can sometimes give off a stronger throw in candles.
But for us, essential oils just feel more special. They’re natural, plant-based, and bring that extra layer of authenticity and wellbeing that synthetics can’t match.
We love that every oil has a story and a real connection to nature, and that’s what we want to share with you.
